Cadillac CTS-V Thành lập từ 2004, là phiên bản thể thao hiệu năng cao của dòng CTS ra đời đầu đó vào 2002. Nếu CTS là địch thủ của những Audi A6, BMW serie 5 hay Mercedes E-class thì CTS-V đó là kẻ cạnh tranh liên đới với những Audi RS6, BMW M5 hay Mercedes E63 AMG. The difference between an ATS and say, a Mustang, Acura ILX or a C class is immediately apparent. All you have to do is to get up to highway speeds, and then start quickly darting from lane to lane. It is almost magic the first time you figure it out, you can keep your right foot pinned down, pedal to the metal, while every time you need to shift you don’t need to let off the gas, just depress the clutch and move the shifter. The ECU deals with literally everything else.
Cadillac even offered enthusiast friendly configurations and trim setups. You can get the ATS in either sedan or coupe, and RWD versions with the 2.0 Turbo and ATS-Vs have a 6 speed manual option. Ford, Honda, and Subaru Have a Good Sales Month in November
November 2017 auto sales were up 1.1 percent over November 2016, though the seasonally adjusted annual rate was off by 1.4 percent, according to preliminary numbers from Automotive News. This odd difference between actual numbers and SAAR has to do with number of sales days, and during which part of the month holidays like Thanksgiving fell, but to me it’s why I report SAAR reluctantly. It’s not a very meaningful number, in my mind.
I’m not repeating AN’s estimate of total sales, because it doesn’t include Nissan/Infiniti, which early Friday said its sales numbers would be delayed to Monday, December 4, because of a technical issue.
We’ll have a complete picture of calendar year 2017 in about one month, anyway. The good news is that sales will be down by just a few hundred thousand after two consecutive record years in the mid-17 millions, 2015 and ‘16. We know that SUV sales are up while sedan sales are down. Just take a look at the top-five compact SUV bestsellers versus the top-five midsize car bestsellers (I can change that heading to “midsize sedans,” now that the Honda Accord coupe is kaput). The numbers are striking.
Other trends? Subaru has grabbed eighth place in U.S. sales from Kia. Luxury brand numbers are down across the board, and luxury buyers, too, are choosing SUVs over cars, though Mercedes-Benz’s bestseller remains the C-Class.
And so, to the numbers …
1. General Motors: 245,387, off 2.9 percent.
Chevrolet was off 1.1 percent, to 167,777, GMC was off 5.8 percent, to 46,277, Buick was off 3.0 percent, to 17,974 and Cadillac dropped 12.8 percent, to 13,359.
Chevy Equinox dropped 8.9 percent, to 19,667. An early-fall Canadian Auto Workers strike constrained Equinox supply early in November.
As new Toyota Camrys and Honda Accords came online, Chevy Malibu plummeted 27.8 percent, to 13,420. Chevy Cruze dropped a full third, 33.1 percent, to 10,982.
Silverado sales rose 2.6 percent, to 46,441 while GMC’s Sierra slipped 4 percent, to 18,186. Combined sales totaled 64,627.
Colorado sales jumped 19.3 percent, to 10,346 while Canyon took a 26.4-percent hit, to 2,510, for a combined 12,356.
The all-new model helped make the Enclave Buick’s bestseller, again, at 6,584, up 87.7 percent. Buick Encore was off 12.8 percent, to 6,248.
Buick Envision was up 24.8 percent, to 2,228 and LaCrosse dropped 28.6 percent, to 1,734.
Cadillac XT5 was up 4.8 percent, to 5,623. Escalade was up 5.8 percent, to 2,218, while Escalade ESV was off by 5.8 percent, to 1,314.
All Cadillac cars were down. XTS was off 27 percent, to 1,938, CTS dropped 37 percent, to 656, ATS fell 44.2 percent, to 831 and CT6 lost 33.5 percent, to 777.
Corvette sales jumped 32.1 percent, to 2,565, though Chevy Bolt EV outsold it at 2,987 copies. Chevy Volt dropped 32.8 percent, to 1,702.
2. Ford Motor Company: 210,771, up 6.7 percent.
F-Series inched up 0.9 percent to 72,769. The Ford brand sold 201,862, up 7.3 percent, and Lincoln was off 5.5 percent, to 8,909.

Bestselling Lexus RX was off 1.6 percent, to 10,102, and NX was up 5.5 percent, to 5,404.
Lexus ES was off 4.5 percent, to 3,911. IS dropped by 31.2 percent, to 2,458 and RC was down 6.2 percent, to 826. Lexus sold 280 LFAs.
4. FiatChrysler: 154,919, off 4.0 percent.
Jeep brand slipped 2 percent, to 66,001, and Ram was off 5 percent, to 40,390. Dodge fell 15 percent, to 28,845, Chrysler was up 14 percent, to 16,510, Fiat dropped 28 percent, to 1,733 and Alfa Romeo grew 60-fold, or 6,161 percent, to 1,440.

Ford, Honda, and Subaru Have a Good Sales Month in November
November 2017 auto sales were up 1.1 percent over November 2016, though the seasonally adjusted annual rate was off by 1.4 percent, according to preliminary numbers from Automotive News. This odd difference between actual numbers and SAAR has to do with number of sales days, and during which part of the month holidays like Thanksgiving fell, but to me it’s why I report SAAR reluctantly. It’s not a very meaningful number, in my mind.
I’m not repeating AN’s estimate of total sales, because it doesn’t include Nissan/Infiniti, which early Friday said its sales numbers would be delayed to Monday, December 4, because of a technical issue.
We’ll have a complete picture of calendar year 2017 in about one month, anyway. The good news is that sales will be down by just a few hundred thousand after two consecutive record years in the mid-17 millions, 2015 and ‘16. We know that SUV sales are up while sedan sales are down. Just take a look at the top-five compact SUV bestsellers versus the top-five midsize car bestsellers (I can change that heading to “midsize sedans,” now that the Honda Accord coupe is kaput). The numbers are striking.
Other trends? Subaru has grabbed eighth place in U.S. sales from Kia. Luxury brand numbers are down across the board, and luxury buyers, too, are choosing SUVs over cars, though Mercedes-Benz’s bestseller remains the C-Class.
And so, to the numbers …
1. General Motors: 245,387, off 2.9 percent.
Chevrolet was off 1.1 percent, to 167,777, GMC was off 5.8 percent, to 46,277, Buick was off 3.0 percent, to 17,974 and Cadillac dropped 12.8 percent, to 13,359.
Chevy Equinox dropped 8.9 percent, to 19,667. An early-fall Canadian Auto Workers strike constrained Equinox supply early in November.
As new Toyota Camrys and Honda Accords came online, Chevy Malibu plummeted 27.8 percent, to 13,420. Chevy Cruze dropped a full third, 33.1 percent, to 10,982.
Silverado sales rose 2.6 percent, to 46,441 while GMC’s Sierra slipped 4 percent, to 18,186. Combined sales totaled 64,627.
Colorado sales jumped 19.3 percent, to 10,346 while Canyon took a 26.4-percent hit, to 2,510, for a combined 12,356.
The all-new model helped make the Enclave Buick’s bestseller, again, at 6,584, up 87.7 percent. Buick Encore was off 12.8 percent, to 6,248.
Buick Envision was up 24.8 percent, to 2,228 and LaCrosse dropped 28.6 percent, to 1,734.
Cadillac XT5 was up 4.8 percent, to 5,623. Escalade was up 5.8 percent, to 2,218, while Escalade ESV was off by 5.8 percent, to 1,314.
All Cadillac cars were down. XTS was off 27 percent, to 1,938, CTS dropped 37 percent, to 656, ATS fell 44.2 percent, to 831 and CT6 lost 33.5 percent, to 777.
Corvette sales jumped 32.1 percent, to 2,565, though Chevy Bolt EV outsold it at 2,987 copies. Chevy Volt dropped 32.8 percent, to 1,702.
2. Ford Motor Company: 210,771, up 6.7 percent.
F-Series inched up 0.9 percent to 72,769. The Ford brand sold 201,862, up 7.3 percent, and Lincoln was off 5.5 percent, to 8,909.
Mustang ran away with PONY CAR WARS in November, up 8.5 percent, to 6,720. Chevy Camaro was off 3.2 percent, to 4,737, and Dodge Challenger slipped 1 percent, to 3,860.
Ford Focus had a very good month, relatively, jumping 44.9 percent to 13,226, with a combo of retail and fleet sales increases. Fusion was off 15.1 percent, to 14,901.
Ford delivered 16 GTs, for 80, year-to-date.
Escape had a strong month, up 9.1 percent, to 25,101, and Explorer was up 24.8 percent, to 21,520. Edge edged up (sorry) 22.5 percent, to 13,180.
MKX is again Lincoln’s sales leader (year-to-date, as well as monthly), and yet it gets the first rename, to Nautilus. Sales were up 6.9 percent, to 2,619 in November.
MKC was next, off 1.4 percent, to 2,037, and MKZ (remember when it was called “Zephyr”?) was off 23.7 percent, to 1,939.
Lincoln sold 923 Continentals, off 35 percent, but 146 more than the Cadillac CT6.
3. Toyota Motor Company: 191,617, off 3.0 percent.
Toyota division was off 2.4 percent, to 164,499 and Lexus dropped 6.7 percent, to 27,118.
The all-new model pushed Camry up 24.1 percent, to 34,991, making it Toyota’s bestseller again. RAV4 was up 2.2 percent, to 28,736.
Corolla took a 31.8 percent hit, to 19,287. Prius was off 22.4 percent, to 8,149.
Highlander was off 10.2 percent, to 19,077, while 4Runner jumped 17.1 percent, to 10,103. Toyota sold 3,391 C-HRs.
On the pickup side, Tacoma sales rose 4.3 percent, to 16,195, while Tundra inched up 1.3 percent, to 9,700.
Toyota 86/Scion FR-S was off 11.1 percent, to 456.
Bestselling Lexus RX was off 1.6 percent, to 10,102, and NX was up 5.5 percent, to 5,404.
Lexus ES was off 4.5 percent, to 3,911. IS dropped by 31.2 percent, to 2,458 and RC was down 6.2 percent, to 826. Lexus sold 280 LFAs.
4. FiatChrysler: 154,919, off 4.0 percent.
Jeep brand slipped 2 percent, to 66,001, and Ram was off 5 percent, to 40,390. Dodge fell 15 percent, to 28,845, Chrysler was up 14 percent, to 16,510, Fiat dropped 28 percent, to 1,733 and Alfa Romeo grew 60-fold, or 6,161 percent, to 1,440.
Grand Cherokee took Jeep’s number-one slot last month, up 8 percent, to 18,614. Cherokee was up 44 percent, to 16,551 and even Wrangler JK, a few months short of the Wrangler JL sales, was up 3 percent, to 13,289.
Fueled by the new model, Jeep Compass was up 34 percent, to 9,368. Renegade slid 23 percent, to 7,795.
Ram pickup dropped by 171 units (0-percent) to 36,714.
Dodge Caravan was up 28 percent, to 8,550 and Charger dropped 34 percent, to 6,047, still enough to outsell both Challenger and Chevy Camaro.
Chrysler Pacifica rose 51 percent, to 13,195, while 300 was up 15 percent, to 2,951.
All Fiats were down, except, inexplicably, 500L, up 32 percent to 127.
Fiat 500 fell 32 percent, to 782, and 500X also lost 32 percent of its sales, to 556. The Fiat 124 Spider slid 23 percent, to 268.
Alfa Giulia accounted for 756 of the brand’s sales, and 657 were Stelvios. Alfa 4c was up 17 percent, to 27.
5. American Honda, 133,156, up 8.3 percent.
Honda division was up 8.2 percent, to 120,440. Acura sales rose 9.5 percent, to 12,716.
CR-V soared 25 percent to become Honda’s bestseller again, at 32,206.
In October, both Accord and Civic topped CR-V in sales. In November, Civic was up 23.2 percent, to 31,181, while Accord, in the midst of a model changeover, dropped 15.4 percent, to 22,998.
Pilot was up 57.2 percent, to 14,189, while Odyssey was off 1.9 percent, to 7,823.
MDX was Acura’s bestseller, up 15.6 percent, to 5,341. RDX was up 0.7 percent, to 3,775.
TLX was up 12.4 percent, to 2,564. NSX was up 62.7 percent, to 83 and RLX was off 7.9 percent, to 129.
6. Nissan Group: 131,150 (est.), up 14 percent.
Nissan reported that an IT issue has delayed its sales release, but says preliminary estimates indicate total Nissan and Infiniti sales were up about 14 percent in November 2017, compared with November 2016.
7. Hyundai: 57,211, off 8.5 percent.
Hyundai brand sold 55,435 last month, off 9.4 percent, and Genesis sold 1,776, up 36 percent compared with Genesis/Equus models last year.
Hyundai’s bestseller was again the Elantra, up 20.7 percent, to a healthy 19,060.
Tucson was the next-bestseller, up 51.4 percent to 11,532, with Santa Fe close behind, at 11,346, up 5.2 percent. Hyundai sold 781 Ioniqs.
Genesis G80 was up 40.1 percent, to 1,408, and G90 was up 22.3 percent, to 368.
8. Subaru: 51,721, up 0.8 percent.
Forester was sales-leader, up 0.5 percent, to 14,662, with Outback close behind, at 14,361, off 19.2 percent.
Crosstrek was up 22.7 percent, to 10,151.
Impreza surged 228.9 percent (model changeover last year), to 6,684.
WRX/STI was off 8.8 percent, to 2,362.
BRZ was up 8.9 percent, to 256. Combined Subaru BRZ/Toyota 86 (Scion FR-S) sales totaled 712.
9. Kia: 44,302, off 15.6 percent.
Forte, Optima, Sorento and Soul all were clustered around the 8k mark. Forte led, at 8,363, up 3.1 percent, followed by Optima at 8,154, off 33.9 percent, Sorento, at 8,153, off 15.9 percent, and Soul, at 8,121, off 34.9 percent.
Kia sold 2,235 Niros and 17 Stingers.
10. Mercedes-Benz USA: 34,242, up 2.2 percent.
The Mercedes brand was up 1.6 percent, to 30,838, while Benz van sales jumped 27.7 percent, to 3,274 and Smart fell 76.9 percent, to 130.
Mercedes C-Class was off 17.4 percent, to 6,001 and E-Class/CLS was up 2.0 percent, to 4,735.
S-Class sales rose 22.2 percent, to 1,803.
GLC-Class led SUV sales, up 38.2 percent, to 5,357. GLE was up 4.7 percent, to 4,914. GLS was off 7.7 percent, to 2,869.
AMG GT sales rose 215.7 percent, to 281.
11. BMW Group: 32,087, up 4.5 percent.
BMW brand was up 7.1 percent, to 28,049. Mini dropped 10.4 percent, to 4,038.
The 3 Series was up 14.2 percent to 6,181, while 4 Series fell 14.3 percent, to 2,776.
The 5 Series was up 255.4 percent, to 4,002.
X5 sales rose 17.5 percent, to 5,515, and X3 plummeted 31.9 percent, to 3,087.
Countryman was up 77.5 percent, to 1,539.
The Mini 2Door Hardtop was up 18.7 percent, to 1,125, while the 4Door was off 5.5 percent, to 718.
12. Volkswagen: 29,207, off 1.6 percent.
The new Atlas SUV was responsible for 5,154, or more than one-sixth, of sales.
VW sold 5,221 of its new Tiguans and 1,726 of the old ones for a total of 6,947, compared with 4,516 old ones last year.
Jetta was off 18.1 percent, to 8,362. Golf was off 34.1 percent, to 4,276, while Passat plummeted 51.2 percent, to 3,140.
Clearly, SUVs are taking over from sedans and hatchbacks at VW.
12. Mazda: 21,469, off 2.6 percent.
CX-5 was up 19.7 percent, to 10,610. Mazda3 was off 26.3 percent, to 4,708.
CX-9 sales jumped 25.3 percent, to 2,499 and CX-3 was up 11.7 percent, to 1,514.
MX-5 Miata also jumped, by 25.8 percent, to 487. Combined Miata/Fiata sales for the month was 755, to edge out the 86/BRZ combo by 43 cars.
14. Audi: 19,195, up 12.1 percent.
Q5 jumped 30.6 percent, to 5,467.
Q7 rose 26.4 percent, to 3,292, while Q3 slipped 1.3 percent, to 1,592.
A4 was off 14.4 percent, to 2,690.
R8 sales slipped 38.1 percent, to 39, while allroad was up 9.6 percent, to 297.
15. Jaguar/Land Rover: 9,862, up 9 percent.
Land Rover was up 20 percent, to 6,801.
Jaguar was off 9 percent, to 3,061.
16. Mitsubishi: 8,609, up 24.8 percent.
Outlander sales leapt 68.5 percent, to 3,740, and Outlander Sport was up 24.5 percent, to 2,931.
Mirage was off 15.6 percent, to 1,208, while Lancer slid 17.4 percent to 730.
17. Volvo: 7,854, up 1.7 percent.
The XC90 rose 25.2 percent, to 3,261.
Volvo sold 1,605 new XC60s and 372 old ones, compared with 2,125 old XC60s in November ’16.

Hyundai’s bestseller was again the Elantra, up 20.7 percent, to a healthy 19,060.
Tucson was the next-bestseller, up 51.4 percent to 11,532, with Santa Fe close behind, at 11,346, up 5.2 percent. Hyundai sold 781 Ioniqs.
Genesis G80 was up 40.1 percent, to 1,408, and G90 was up 22.3 percent, to 368.
8. Subaru: 51,721, up 0.8 percent.
Forester was sales-leader, up 0.5 percent, to 14,662, with Outback close behind, at 14,361, off 19.2 percent.
Crosstrek was up 22.7 percent, to 10,151.
Impreza surged 228.9 percent (model changeover last year), to 6,684.
WRX/STI was off 8.8 percent, to 2,362.
BRZ was up 8.9 percent, to 256. Combined Subaru BRZ/Toyota 86 (Scion FR-S) sales totaled 712.
9. Kia: 44,302, off 15.6 percent.
Forte, Optima, Sorento and Soul all were clustered around the 8k mark. Forte led, at 8,363, up 3.1 percent, followed by Optima at 8,154, off 33.9 percent, Sorento, at 8,153, off 15.9 percent, and Soul, at 8,121, off 34.9 percent.
Kia sold 2,235 Niros and 17 Stingers.
10. Mercedes-Benz USA: 34,242, up 2.2 percent.
The Mercedes brand was up 1.6 percent, to 30,838, while Benz van sales jumped 27.7 percent, to 3,274 and Smart fell 76.9 percent, to 130.
Mercedes C-Class was off 17.4 percent, to 6,001 and E-Class/CLS was up 2.0 percent, to 4,735.
S-Class sales rose 22.2 percent, to 1,803.
GLC-Class led SUV sales, up 38.2 percent, to 5,357. GLE was up 4.7 percent, to 4,914. GLS was off 7.7 percent, to 2,869.
AMG GT sales rose 215.7 percent, to 281.
11. BMW Group: 32,087, up 4.5 percent.
BMW brand was up 7.1 percent, to 28,049. Mini dropped 10.4 percent, to 4,038.
The 3 Series was up 14.2 percent to 6,181, while 4 Series fell 14.3 percent, to 2,776.
The 5 Series was up 255.4 percent, to 4,002.
X5 sales rose 17.5 percent, to 5,515, and X3 plummeted 31.9 percent, to 3,087.
Countryman was up 77.5 percent, to 1,539.
The Mini 2Door Hardtop was up 18.7 percent, to 1,125, while the 4Door was off 5.5 percent, to 718.
12. Volkswagen: 29,207, off 1.6 percent.
The new Atlas SUV was responsible for 5,154, or more than one-sixth, of sales.
VW sold 5,221 of its new Tiguans and 1,726 of the old ones for a total of 6,947, compared with 4,516 old ones last year.
Jetta was off 18.1 percent, to 8,362. Golf was off 34.1 percent, to 4,276, while Passat plummeted 51.2 percent, to 3,140.
Clearly, SUVs are taking over from sedans and hatchbacks at VW.
12. Mazda: 21,469, off 2.6 percent.
CX-5 was up 19.7 percent, to 10,610. Mazda3 was off 26.3 percent, to 4,708.
CX-9 sales jumped 25.3 percent, to 2,499 and CX-3 was up 11.7 percent, to 1,514.
MX-5 Miata also jumped, by 25.8 percent, to 487. Combined Miata/Fiata sales for the month was 755, to edge out the 86/BRZ combo by 43 cars.
14. Audi: 19,195, up 12.1 percent.
Q5 jumped 30.6 percent, to 5,467.
Q7 rose 26.4 percent, to 3,292, while Q3 slipped 1.3 percent, to 1,592.
A4 was off 14.4 percent, to 2,690.
R8 sales slipped 38.1 percent, to 39, while allroad was up 9.6 percent, to 297.
15. Jaguar/Land Rover: 9,862, up 9 percent.
Land Rover was up 20 percent, to 6,801.
Jaguar was off 9 percent, to 3,061.
16. Mitsubishi: 8,609, up 24.8 percent.
Outlander sales leapt 68.5 percent, to 3,740, and Outlander Sport was up 24.5 percent, to 2,931.
Mirage was off 15.6 percent, to 1,208, while Lancer slid 17.4 percent to 730.
17. Volvo: 7,854, up 1.7 percent.
The XC90 rose 25.2 percent, to 3,261.
Volvo sold 1,605 new XC60s and 372 old ones, compared with 2,125 old XC60s in November ’16.
S90 sales surged 93.6 percent, to 1,297. Volvo sold 9 V90s and 223 V90 CCs.
S60 was down 39.2 percent, to 808.
18. Porsche: 5,555, up 0.8 percent (42 units).
Macan led, at 1,981, though off 3.6 percent.
Cayenne slid 14.3 percent, to 1,347.
The 911 line was up 39.6 percent, to 976.
Panamera was off 0.3 percent, to 729, and 718 Boxster/Cayman was up 14.2 percent, to 522.

L’imposante Cadillac XTS V-Sport 2018 et une petite mise au point!

Je me fais parfois reprocher de trop vanter les véhicules américains. Ce qui est le plus drôle, c’est d’entendre des amis me parler de quelqu’un qu’ils connaissaient qui avait une voiture américaine avec laquelle il avait eu beaucoup de problème.  Mais lorsque je leur demande de quelle année il s’agit, à ma grande surprise, il s’agit d’un véhicule des années quatre-vingt ou quatre-vingt dix…il y a donc vingt ou trente ans de cela! Je n’ai pas l’habitude de cataloguer les voitures ou les camionnettes par leur provenance. Pour certains observateurs, un produit japonais (ou d’origine japonaise) est automatiquement plus fiable que toute autre provenance. Fouillez un peu et vous allez découvrir des problèmes majeurs (sur grande échelle) sur plusieurs modèles asiatiques (incluant des moteurs qui consomment de l’huile, des accélérations subites, de la rouille prématurée et ainsi de suite). Pour d’autres, ce sont les voitures européennes qui sont les meilleures. Là encore, faites quelques recherches. Plusieurs marques de renom ont leurs problèmes, que ce soit une consommation d’huile ou des problèmes d’émissions polluantes cachés et j’en passe). Mais, trop souvent, ces mêmes gens lèvent le nez sur une auto ou une camionnette d’origine américaine (rappelez-vous qu’une Toyota Camry est de construction américaine, voire même de conception américaine) dès qu’on en prononce le nom! Pourtant, ces mêmes marques se retrouvent bien souvent en tête de liste lorsque les résultats d’études de satisfaction de leurs propriétaires sont publiés.
Ce qui m’amène à vous parler de la berline Cadillac XTS V-Sport AWD 2018. Le nom de Cadillac a été relativement sali tout il y a quelques années. Il est vrai que certaines années-modèles n’ont pas été des plus excitantes. On se souviendra des petites Cimarron des années soixante-dix et quatre-vingt, des autos basées sur de Chevrolet Cavalier moins prestigieuses (un mouvement qui fut imité par plus d’une marque incluant même des Toyota transformées en Lexus!). Cependant, depuis l’arrivée de la gamme CTS, Cadillac a redressé la barre et la grande XTS dont il est question ici a subi un traitement semblable qui lui a redonné beaucoup de prestige. Ah! Vous pensiez que la XTS avait été abandonnée avec l’arrivée de la CTS il y a un peu plus d’un an? Ce n’en est pas le cas! Pire encore, c’est une des berlines les plus vendues de la marque (selon les informations que j’ai pu glaner), sinon la plus vendue! Et si vous croyez encore que la marque Cadillac est destinée aux «p’tits vieux», sachez qu’il y en a même une gamme de performance dite V et V-Sport et qu’il y a une XTS dans ce catalogue. C’est la version 2018 de la Cadillac XTS V-Sport que j’ai pu conduire la semaine dernière. Fait-elle le poids, surtout face à la concurrence?
Comment définir la XTS V-Sport? Commençons par le fait qu’il s’agit ici la plus imposante berline de la marque. Elle repose sur une plateforme Epsilon II semblable à celle de la Buick LaCrosse, voire même celle de la Chevrolet Impala. Et elle est construite au Canada (et en Chine)! C’est donc, de base, une traction (avant) mais dans le cas de notre XTS, il s’agissait de la version à traction intégrale.

Visuellement, elle se présente en 2018 avec un avant redessiné dont les phares et la calandre ressemblent de très près à celles du VUS XT5 alors que les feux arrière à DEL sont tout nouveaux. Dans le cas de la finition Platinum qui nous intéresse ici, les jantes lui sont uniques. Mais pour le reste, il s’agit de la même caisse reconduite des dernières années. L’intérieur de cette grande auto vaut la peine d’être décrit. Le premier contact est quand même impressionnant. Les sièges (chauffants ou ventilés) avec sellerie de cuir sont très invitants. Ceux d’avant sont ajustables de multiples façons incluant un coussin qui avance ou recule pour supporter les cuisses selon la longueur des jambes du passager. Le tableau de bord est relativement simple mais il demeure élégant. Toutefois, il y a quelques irritants à mentionner. Tout d’abord, l’instrumentation n’est pas toujours lisible comme les indicateurs de température du moteur et surtout du réservoir d’essence (une simple ligne de couleur bleu au bas du cadran vous informe de la quantité restante mais elle n’est pas toujours facile à distinguer). Puis, il y a le système CUE (Cadillac User Experience) qui est critiqué depuis sa présentation, il y a quelques années. Il demande beaucoup de concentration (il est préférable de s’arrêter pour le comprendre). Je n’ai jamais réussi à y entrer sur le GPS  l’adresse d’un ami que je voulais visiter. Toutefois, il y avait heureusement la fonction AppleCarPlay et j’ai pu remplacer CUE par mon téléphone intelligent qui y a joué le rôle de GPS. (Notons que l’auto est aussi équipée de la communication WiFi). Quant aux autres commandes, dont celles de la radio (qui consiste à y glisser un doigt pour augmenter ou diminuer le volume…ce qui ne se fait pas toujours avec précision), certaines se dédoublent au volant et c’est tant mieux! Cependant, j’ai encore une fois bien apprécié l’indicateur de vitesse par réflexion au pare-brise! En ce qui a trait aux places arrière, elles sont confortables à souhait et généreuses éclairées par un toit vitré ouvrant impressionnant Le coffre est aussi très vaste mais curieusement, pour une voiture de ce prix, je me serais attendu à une fonction électrique pour refermer le capot arrière grâce à un bouton. Certaines autos moins coûteuses ont cette fonction.

Si l’on jette un coup d’œil sous le capot, on y voit un V6 de 3,6 litres à double turbocompresseurs. Il s’agit du même V6 de base que l’on retrouve dans plusieurs véhicules de General Motors mais si l’on se fie aux dires du constructeur, il a été complètement révisé incluant un nouveau bloc-cylindres, l’injection directe du carburant  et plus encore. Dans le cas de notre auto d’essai, il développait 410 chevaux et 369 li-pi de couple. Cependant, il ne vient qu’avec une boîte automatique à six rapports (que l’on peut manier manuellement) mais en contrepartie, la transmission aux roues se fait par un système intégral (qui pourrait s’avérer très utile en hiver si l’auto est équipée des pneus d’hiver appropriés).

Malgré toute la puissance qui l’habite (il est possible d’atteindre le cap des 100 km/h en moins de six secondes), l’auto a le défaut principal d’avoir une plateforme qui commence à accuser de l’âge. Par contre, même si la suspension est légèrement souple, la conduite n’est pas désagréable. La direction est un peu légère mais relativement précise. Le freinage est à la hauteur de la situation. Les accélérations sont donc impressionnantes et les reprises plus que rassurantes. Attention, toutefois, à l’effet de couple qui peut se faire sentir selon la condition du pavé. Je l’ai vécu sur l’autoroute 25 (en reprises) mais c’était surtout dû aux profondes ornières de la route.
En condition urbaine, l’auto se conduit comme…une Cadillac. L’auto est relativement douce et silencieuse. Sur la grand-route, elle révèle une certaine force de caractère qui pourra impressionner la majorité des conducteurs, peu importe leur âge. Toutefois, il faut garder en mémoire que c’est une berline de plus de 4200 livres avec une plateforme, je le répète, vieillissante. Mais elle n’est pas totalement perdue. Elle permet une tenue de route supérieure à bien des autos sur la route. Il est vrai que cette Cadillac doit se mesurer à des concurrentes allemandes ou asiatiques plus élaborées mais aussi, dans la majorité des cas, plus coûteuses.
En ce qui concerne la consommation, j’ai obtenu une moyenne de 14,6 l/100 km (alors que l’ordinateur de bord indiquait 14,3). Ce n’est pas merveilleux mais il faut dire qu’une voiture de performance de ce calibre se fait «brasser» un peu plus qu’une voiture régulière ce qui augmente évidemment la consommation. Incidemment, il est préférable d’opter pour de l’essence Super pour obtenir la puissance maximale du V6 biturbo!
La Cadillac XTS V-Sport n’est pas, malgré son nom, une voiture de sport. C’est une grande berline de luxe qui aime se comporter comme une voiture de performance…à ses heures. Je ne crois pas qu’il faille nécessairement la comparer à des européennes plus coûteuses. Cette auto est plutôt une grande boulevardière rapide qui est presque unique dans son créneau malgré son prix de 80 060 $ (des chiffres de 2017, ceux de 2018 n’étant pas encore disponibles surtout que l’auto était toute neuve!).  Cependant, si elle vous intéresse, sachez qu’il y a de fortes chances qu’elle ne soit plus produite après 2019 donc, dépéchez-vous…

AWD, pouvez-vous me dire comment fait-on pour conduire cette voiture en toute sécurité, à cause des piliers avant très larges, pouvant causer des accidents, les vitres des portières réduites de même que la vitre arrière. J’hésite entre LaCrosse et la Verano. Laquelle choisir? Merci
Rép. : Voilà le genre de question qui a pu m’échapper. J’ai bien peur de ne pas avoir répondu en temps. Désolé. Aujourd’hui, la Verano (toute neuve ) n’existe plus (alors qu’elle se vendait bien chez nous, elle ne perçait pas aux États-Unis) alors que la LaCrosse a été redessinée. Mais il ne s’agit pas de deux véhicules de même calibre. Si Serge Beauchemin lit ceci, qu’il me contacte de nouveau mais par la commande «Commentaire» au haut de la page!

Bonjour M. Descarries! Je vous contacte car j'ai pu vous voir sur La Presse et je vois que vous êtes compétent. J'ai une question .Mon mari est allé chez le concessionnaire GMC de qui nous avons acheté un Terrain 2017 V6 .Il a eu la surprise de sa vie lorsqu'il s'informait pour un refroidisseur de radiateur ou de transmission (suggestion d'un ami, cela aiderait...) car on vient de s'acheter une roulotte Viking 2827 livres. Il lui a répondu « Pourquoi t'installer ceci puisque le véhicule n'a pas la capacité de puissance de tirer ton VR ?».Mon mari était très choqué de sa réponse et Il lui expliquait que ce n'est pas ce que disent les infos de la charte du VR et des vendeurs, puisque nous en avons vu plusieurs. S.V.P. j'aimerais avoir votre opinion. Le plus important pour nous c'est de savoir si on est capable de tirer notre roulotte et le refroidisseur, est-ce nécessaire? J'espère que nous avons fait un bon achat. Merci !
Rép. : Voici un autre exemple de question qui m’a échappé. Et elle est très bonne! J’espère qu’il n’est pas trop tard! Un GMC Terrain V6 peut tirer jusqu’à 3500 livres. Mais, personnellement, je trouve cela un peu trop près des 2877 livres de votre Viking (qui sera plus lourde une fois que la remorque sera chargée de nourriture, vêtements, liquides et autres). Pour une remorque aussi imposante, j’aurais recherché un «tracteur» plus gros et peut-être plus puissant, surtout si vous chargez le Terrain en plus! Si vous avez choisi le Terrain, l’ajout du refroidisseur vous évitera des problèmes, c’est sûr!  Pouvez-vous m’écrire de nouveau mais par la fonction «Commentaire» ?

Ce petit VUS est produit par l’important constructeur Great Wall (un nom de commerce très commun en Chine) qui cherche à l’exporter un peu partout dans le monde. Je crois en avoir vu un en Afrique récemment. Sachez que si l’Haval nous arrive, il ne sera pas le dernier…et peut-être pas le premier de nous arriver de Chine. Déjà d’autres constructeurs du même pays ont fait des présentations au Salon de Detroit mais on est sans nouvelles d’eux depuis ce temps…

Dopo GT Sport, continuiamo a trattare titoli automobilistici. Questa volta però parleremo di Forza Motorsport 7 e del suo parco macchine.

Forza Motorsport 7: Amerikanische Woche
Die wöchentliche Veröffentlichung der Liste von den Fahrzeuge für Forza Motosport 7 geht diese Woche in die vierte Runde. Dieses mal dreht sich alles um Amerikanische Automobile. Vom 1970er Dodge Challenger R/T bis hin zum 2017er Ford GT sind 103 Wagen in der Liste vertreten.

Cadillac to Axe ATS, CTS, XTS Nameplates, Will Go to Three-Sedan Lineup
It’s no secret that new-car buyers are shunning sedans as they instead flock to SUVs and crossovers, and that’s true at Cadillac as well. Unfortunately, the division’s revitalization strategy has relied heavily on traditional four-doors—the redesigned CTS, the ATS, and the CT6—and sales have been weak. Speaking to Reuters, Cadillac chief Johan de Nysschen acknowledged that a “realignment” is in order. And while several familiar nameplates won’t be renewed—including the ATS, the CTS, and the XTS—this isn’t quite the full turn toward crossovers that some are suggesting. Reading between the lines, one sees that Cadillac’s car count drops only from four to three, while the division adds two new crossovers.
In the report, de Nysschen says that the ATS and the CTS won’t live beyond the current-generation cars, which reach the end of the road in 2019. But then he says that a new sedan, the CT5, will appear. With the CT6 matching up roughly with the long-wheelbase version of the BMW 5-series in size, the new CT5 can square off against the 3-series. The report also mentions a new, small luxury sedan to battle the Audi A3, and that small Cadillac effectively steps in for the ATS. (You’ll notice, however, that there’s no A3 coupe, so we wouldn’t expect a Cadillac coupe here, either.) The XTS fades away after 2019, but it’s been pretty clear for a while now that the big front-driver is an outlier in the lineup—even if it’s still the brand’s best-selling sedan.

On the crossover/SUV side, we’ve known for a while that a smaller-than-XT5 model is coming, and that it’s taking the name XT4. A second entry presumably would fill the three-row-crossover niche, which has been empty since the demise of the original SRX. Whether that model will be derived from the CT6 components set or whether it would be spun off the same architecture as the Chevrolet Traverse/GMC Acadia/Buick Enclave is not yet known. What is a sure bet is that Cadillac isn’t going to touch the Escalade, as the big beast is still the division’s major source of profits.
